FC United of Manchester went down 0-2 against English Football League - League Two outfit Oldham Athletic in their latest pre-season warm-up match in front of a 1,093 gate at Broadhurst Park on Tuesday evening.

Oldham’s trialist number ten opened the scoring on 27 minutes when he netted the rebound after Giles Coke’s shot had come back off the upright.

Shortly before half-time, it might have been two-nil to the visitors but for a fine penalty save by FC United ’keeper Lloyd Allinson from Oldham’s Dan Gardner.

The Latics weren’t to be denied a second, however. which came on 59 minutes when JOHAN BRANGER-ENGONE headed home a right wing cross from close range.

And that proved to be the end of the evening’s goal scoring.
