Fired-up Margy calls for a response

Manager Karl Marginson has called on his squad of players to produce a positive response on Saturday after the disappointment of losing 3-1 to Skelmersdale United on Tuesday night or to face the consequences.

Matty Taylor joins United’s growing injury list with a swollen leg, but Rob Nugent is back to partner David Chadwick at the back and Steve Spencer is also available after missing the midweek tip to West Lancashire due to work commitments. Margy rates Park Avenue more highly than Fleetwood Town, who dumped the Reds out of the FA Cup last month, so he knows it will be a tough game but he has made it clear what he expects from his players.

Obviously still incensed by Tuesday night’s showing, he said: "You see the lads come out and play the way they did at Chorley and then they play like that, at times there was nothing there. We’ll be going in to Saturday as underdogs and obviously the result is important but what I want to see is a performance and not another lacklustre display that lacks passion as we’ve seen a couple of times so far this season."??

And Margy certainly wasn’t mincing his words when he fired out a warning to his current squad: "I think we’re good enough, but I’m not scared to hold my hands up and say when I’m wrong. If I am wrong, I’m not just going to sit there and let it go on, I won’t be having it - I’ll get busy. I’m not saying any of the players are on borrowed time but they need to start answering any question marks I’ve got over them."??
