FC United supporter Pete Crowther is bringing out a book about the club’s debut season. This is the second FC United Book after An Undividable Glow by Robert Brady was released in July 2006.

Our Club Our Rules will be £9.95 and all profits will go to the development fund. The book is to be released on 1 November 2007, pre orders can be taken at the FC United club shop.

Author Pete Crowther had this to say:

Ever get the feeling that you’ve spent far too much time answering the same old questions, justifying choices and defending your position? Too much time explaining yourself to the puzzled, the mocking and the downright hostile? How could you walk away from United? What’s so bad about Glazer? What’s so wrong with the Premiership? What’s so good about FC United? I certainly have. I was never short of answers. In fact, I had too many. But they weren’t always clear or consistent or completely thought through. The issues were too big and emotions were too high.

So, in the summer of 2006 it was time to put emotion to one side, think things through and create some order from chaos. So I wrote this book. I wrote a book that would explain what we did and why we did it. I wrote a book that would explain everything that is wonderful about this extraordinary club of ours. I wrote a book that would face up to the issues that confront us - money, merchandising, sponsorship, television - and that would try to arrive at some acceptable solutions. I wrote a book that tried to see ahead to FC’s future and that tried to make clear why FC United is so important for the future of the game we all love.

And I wrote a book that was a huge, giddy, excited thank-you for the best season that I’d ever spent watching football, a book that recorded the ups and downs of that first incredible, unrepeatable season.

So now it’s done and I’m hoping it can do two things. Firstly, that it spreads the message about FC United. There’s an FC vision of what a football club should be. It’s not for everyone but I think there are a lot of fans out there who will share that vision. If they know about it. Secondly, that the book will contribute something tangible to the future of the club, ie. money. All proceeds from the book go to the Development Fund. Every copy sold will generate a fiver towards the building of our own stadium. So don’t just buy it because it’s really, really good - according to me mum - buy it because it takes us a tiny step closer to the day when we have a place of our own.

Details of all FC United Development Fund activities are available on the Development Fund website.
