Congratulations from Exeter City Supporters' Trust

In a recent letter Dr David Treharne of Exeter City Supporters’ Trust congratulated the members of fan owned clubs FC United, Stockport County and AFC Wimbledon on successful 07/08 campaigns.

AFC Wimbledon won promotion from Ryman Premier Division to go into the Blue Square South and Stockport County’s League Two play-off victory ensures that they will play League One football next season. Whilst Exeter City themselves won promotion to the Football League from the Conference.

Dr Treharne’s letter:

Dear FC United

Exeter City Supporters’ Trust Meeting 19th May

At the Exeter City Trust meeting on 19th May it was unanimously agreed that we should send a letter of congratulation to three Football Trusts who have, together with our own trust and Club enjoyed success both on and off the pitch during season 2007-2008.

We are certain that the collective success of Stockport County, AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester are inextricably linked with the ethos and stability that the trust movement engenders, and as such we ought to celebrate the achievements of these Clubs.

In the case of Exeter City it is almost certain that if the Trust, which was established in 2000, had not been in existence that it is extremely unlikely that we would have a Football Club to celebrate now that we are returning to League Two

We therefore not only congratulate your clubs for their success and organisation, but hope that the seasons ahead will see more and greater success, and would hope that at some point in the future we can celebrate with each other in rather more tangible ways!

Please pass on our congratulations and best wishes to all your members.

Yours Sincerely,
Dr David Treharne
