Do time in a cell for FC!

Will you do time for FC?

Match-going supporters know how special This Thing of Ours is, and we want to keep spreading the word around Manchester and beyond. So the club is launching an initiative to set up a network of supporter "cells"?? to encourage newcomers to come through the turnstiles and see for themselves what makes every FC United game a feel-good experience.

What’s a supporter cell?

A cell is a group of volunteers in a local area who will act as ambassadors to promote the club in that area. Initially this is aimed at distributing match posters and club information, but the intention is that eventually it’ll extend to encouraging people in the locality to take up memberships, season tickets, support the development fund, etc.

How will it work?

The aim is to set up 20 cells in the Greater Manchester area with an average of five people in each cell - that’s a network of 100 people. One person will be nominated as a "cell coordinator"?? so we’ll have 20 coordinators across the region. They’ll work with the other members in the cell to pick up literature from the club and distribute it to local outlets. There are a wide range of possibilities - newsagents, takeaways, shops, pubs, hotels, libraries, local football/sports clubs, schools, community centres, workplaces, universities/colleges and so on. Initially we’re hoping that each cell member will make connections with 10 outlets or organisations, which would mean 1000 new places of information about FC.

How much time will it involve?

We’re looking at about an hour or two every two or three weeks to help distribute leaflets or match day posters to each member’s outlets, and it’s hoped it’ll be possible to develop relationships and generally promote FC around the area. Network members would be in regular contact with each other to share ideas.

How do I sign up?

Send us an email at the FC office to proms@fc-utd.co.uk or give us a call on 07774 171738 or 07816 228581 with your name, email and/or phone number and the area you’re based in (work or home), and we’ll get back to you very soon. It’d also be helpful if you could let us know if you’re interested in being a cell member or a cell coordinator.

Spend some time in a cell this Christmas - it’ll make the ideal gift for FC United!
