Trio ready to push for promotion

Manager Karl Marginson is confident that a trio of eager midfielders can help push FC United into the play-off zone and possibly higher as the Reds prepare for their furthest away trip of the season against Boston United.

Neil Chappel and Tunji Moses are competing to make their full first team debuts and Jamie Baguley is also back in contention after recovering from nearly four months out with a knee injury sustained at Nantwich in September.

All three played in a midweek closed-doors friendly victory over UniBond Division One North side, Salford City whilst Chappell and Baguley also got 15 minutes of competitive action after coming off the bench in the 3-0 win against Worksop last Saturday.

Margy said: "Looking at the table, I think we have an excellent chance of going up. There’s not many points separating the top sides and everyone is beating everyone. So, if we keep playing our best, we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. We’ve a lot to do, but we firmly believe promotion to Blue Square North remains a realistic target."

The form guide suggests that United should prove too strong for 17th placed Boston, who were battered 5-0 by Nantwich last week. However, the Pilgrims have beaten the Reds twice already this season so Margy’s men may have to dig deep to gain revenge this time around at York Street.
