Manager Karl Marginson has agreed to send an FC United team to play a friendly against Rochdale Town, previously known as Castleton Gabriels.

Margy said "We’ve only got one game over the Easter period, but it’s a very big one against Nantwich at home on Easter Monday, so most of the squad will be having a bit of a rest to prepare. When Rochdale Town asked us to play a friendly, I thought it would be good to give some of us oldies a game. I’m definitely playing and so will Darren Lyons and Karl Lineghan will be in goal, perhaps with Sam Ashton warming him up instead of the other way round. I’ve asked some of our old boys, like Dave Brown, to come back for a game too. I’m going to get some of our fringe players and youngsters to turn out though, because we’ll need some fit youngsters to do all the running around."

Rochdale town Manager, Mark Canning said "We want to make it a family day out and have a bit of fun as it’s Easter. I’m looking forward to seeing Margy and Daz with their boots on again".

We had a couple of good games against Castleton Gabriels in our first season in the North West Counties League. The away game was the first time we played at Radcliffe and the 10-2 win at Gigg Lane is probably more remembered for Castleton’s Matty Russell’s cheeky goal celebration when he jumped into the stand and applauded himself. We’ve been told Matty will be playing in the Rochdale Town team, so maybe we’ll get a repeat performance, or perhaps Margy will get there first!
