Title is in sight

FC United could seal promotion and be crowned champions on Wednesday night against Chadderton if Flixton or Nelson drop points in their fixtures this week.

Only Flixton, Nelson and Padiham can catch United now, but that could change as Nelson host Darwen on Monday night and Flixton entertain Eccleshall on Wednesday.

Flixton and Nelson have to win to have any chance of spoiling United’s amazing debut season. But if United beat Chadderton that will put them on 81 points, a feat that can only be beaten by Nelson who currently lie in sixth place but have nine games in hand.

Flixton can still match 81 points but, due to United’s goal difference currently being superior by 35 goals, victory against Chadderton would all but eliminate the threat of our local rivals.

The club will keep all the supporters fully up-to-date on how the results in these other games go and whether we can begin to celebrate this Wednesday.
