Development Fund Online Pool Tournament

It has been proposed that we arrange an online Pool Tournament in support of the Development Fund.

So, fancy a few racks of virtual pool? Fancy the chance of winning a few quid and a nice shiny trophy? Fancy donating to Our Club’s Development Fund? Yes? Then this is the Article for you!

We’ve tried, without success, in the past to organise a real, live tournament but this is the next best thing and you don’t even need to leave the house!

And don’t forget, the beauty of this is that anyone can enter. Friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, anyone at all!

It is hoped that there will be sufficient interest to make the Tournament feasible, and that if it proves to be a success it may be followed by a regular monthly league format.

The Tournament, assuming sufficient entries, will be played via the website www.thepoolclub.com which is extremely user friendly and only requires the download of a straightforward, and more importantly free, piece of software.

***Don’t download the software yet though. When you register, you will receive an e-mail containing the process you’ll need to follow.***

Terms of Entry

Prospective entrants will be required to register and pay their entry fee. The cost of entry will be £10. There will be a cash prize for the winner and the runner up, the amounts dependent on the number of entries received. As there will be no overheads whatsoever (a trophy has been donated), the remainder of the funds will be donated to the Development Fund.

How to Register

Between Tuesday 23rd March and Friday 9th April.

Send an e-mail to fcpool10@gmail.com, including your name and contact telephone number.

You will receive an acknowledgement e-mail, containing further details.

How to Pay

Between Monday 12th and Friday 16th April.

Call the Office on 0161 273 8950. You will need a credit or debit card, preferably your own. When you have paid, you will be given a Reference Number which you should keep a note of.

Format

Depending on the number of entries, the tournament will be a straight knockout format, each round consisting of a best of 5 racks tie, apart from the final which will be the best of 9 racks.

The draw for each round will be made at random and, to ensure impartiality, will be witnessed by an independent adjudicator.

Each tie will be played at a time mutually convenient to the two players concerned, but before a deadline to be decided by the Tournament Administrators.

Any player failing to fulfil a previously agreed tie will forfeit the game in favour of his/her opponent.

The winning and losing player from each tie must report back the result, which will then be verified, via the fcpool10@gmail.com address.

When each round of ties has been completed, the draw for the next round will take place and the next completion deadline announced.

Rules/Arbitration

The rules of the game are as detailed on the website. In the case of any dispute, the decision of the Tournament Administrators is final.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to view any tie.

Registration Period: Tuesday 23rd March to Friday 9th April.

Payment Period: Monday 12th April to Friday 16th April.

First Round: Week commencing 19th April.

Good Luck, we hope to see plenty of registrations
