Help persuade Aviva Insurance Group to support FC United community work in Newton Heath

Two FC United community projects have been shortlisted in a competition run by the Aviva Insurance Group. We were very kindly nominated by Backhouse Insurance Brokers. The finalists will be determined by a popular vote.

We have been shortlisted for two separate prizes and we urge members and supporters to vote for BOTH projects.

One prize is for a £10,000 award. This funding would allow the club to train ten young unemployed people as sports coaches and support them as they work with the club’s community team for five months. Each young person would;

• Work in a primary school in or near Newton Heath organising lunchtime and sports activities and after school clubs aimed at getting more children into sports
• Help to run school holiday play schemes based at the primary school where they are working.
• Be linked to an older person or person living alone and coping with long term illness and be a ‘good neighbour’ to that person, calling on them weekly for a chat and helping with shopping and other practical tasks
• The second prize is for £25,000 and this funding would allow us to do all of the above plus we would run six super school holiday play schemes in inner city Manchester, each with a separate focus;

2. Arts & Crafts
3. Singing
4. Storytelling
5. Girls’ Football and other sports
6. Boys’ Football and other sports
