The treasureline... Good news week

We have a winner!!! Yes two weeks ago an FC member won the big one in the treasureline draw... el gordo... the fat one... £1,000 smackers.

Regular match goer and volunteer Dave Keelan won the first prize in our weekly lottery THE TREASURELINE.

We caught up with Dave last Thursday as he was on duty in Moston, helping to stuff 10,000 leaflets through the doors of our (hopefully) soon to be neighbours.

"Over the moon" and "can’t believe it" were just two of Dave’s printable remarks. Dave joined up for the treasureline the very first week and also signed up his mum, sister and other relatives for the £1 per week fundraiser. As Dave said: "Who misses a £1 a week? And even if I hadn’t managed to win, at least FC are benefiting."

Dave has been a follower home and away since our friendly against Stalybridge Celtic in our first ever pre-season and will never forget it as "The man with no name" match.

For his troubles, Dave started using the Tameside bus at the beginning of last season and it wasn’t long before he noticed that there were certain people on the bus who did more than just attend games.

Vinny, Mike Burtonwood, Des and others would be usually in a scrum down, and discussing ways of raising money and the profile of our beloved club. Dave asked about volunteering and has never looked back (his words), and can be seen every matchday selling half-time draw tickets, stewarding, leafleting and whatever else is needed.

"It’s my club and I want it to succeed. In the past I just let things happen and was happy enough just to support them. Now I am really part of it and get a buzz on matchdays, win or lose."

Just to complete the picture Dave’s favourite player is David Chadwick but a close second is The man with no name - former striker Rory Patterson; best away day was Rochdale; Nirvana by a mile are his favourite band and the FC United chant he enjoys the most is "Top Of The World".

Dave plans to get his season ticket and put some of his winnings aside for away games in the new season, as well as taking his family out for a bite to eat.

Final word from Dave: "Everyone should try to sign up for the treasureline, and family members too. It’s a regular non seasonal income for the club and a chance to win yourself."
