FC United on the road to Hull to face Ferriby

FC United have another chance to break into the play-off places on Saturday when they travel to North Ferriby United but assistant manager Roy Soule believes that the players need to show more respect to their opponents.

After starting the year with a cracking 5-2 victory at Bradford Park Avenue, the Reds slipped to a surprise 2-1 home defeat last weekend against Stafford Rangers, who have struggled at the wrong end of the table so far this season. Thankfully, United bounced back with a 3-2 win at Chorley in the Doodson Sports Cup on Tuesday night but picking up points in the Evo-Stik Premier Division remains the top priority.

Soule said: “We’ve had some good results of late but it seems to me that last Saturday’s result was down to a lack of application and a bit of complacency. Whether your opponents are at the top or bottom of the table, you still have to show them due respect and you do that by beating them.???

United should have a full squad to go to Hull and back with on Saturday, with winger Astley Mulholland the only slight concern as he picked up a knock whilst winning the penalty for the third goal at Chorley. Meanwhile, left-back Lee Neville is available again after serving a three game ban for being sent off against Burscough before Christmas.

A win on Saturday would see the Reds into the play-off places for the first time since September if both our nearest rivals, Bradford and Marine failed to win at home to Buxton and Stafford Rangers respectively.

North Ferriby United versus FC United of Manchester is this Saturday at the traditional time of three o’clock and the match is pay-on-the-gate. Get yourself to that football ground.
