FC fan in tragic accident

FC United supporter Ray Steele is in a critical condition in hospital after being involved in a road accident which killed his wife, Lynn.

Ray, 65, and his wife Lynn, 60, were struck by a car as they walked hand-in-hand across a level crossing in Milnrow Road, Shaw, Oldham. Both were rushed to hospital but tragically Lynn died from her injuries. Ray has serious head injuries and is being treated in intensive care at SalfordRoyal Hospital.

Ray and Lynn moved to Shaw from Rochdale six years ago. They were on their way back from booking a holiday when the tragedy happened.

Their daughter, Sarah, said of her mother: "She was young at heart and appeared a lot younger than she was. She will be sadly missed by all of her family."

Ray is a big fan of FC United and everyone connected with FC United offers our condolences to Ray and his family at this sad time. The club has sent a card signed by all the players and staff to Ray’s family offering support and our best wishes for his swift recovery from the accident.
