A rich seam: Your matchday programme

What do coal miners, rock band Chumbawamba and Hamburg’s Jolly Roger pub all have in common? Well, obviously because this is the preview for Satuday’s matchday programme you will have guessed the answer. You could have said ’programme seller Cheetham Hill Mark’, which would have been a good guess, but as far as we know he has never worked down t’pit. He may have lived with Chumba and drank in the Roger, but that’s only two out of three... The unsurprising answer is that all three star in our Frickley Athletic programme.

We have another bumper edition for you, with Mike Norton talking about hitting his half century of goals for the club. We look back over some of the best and Mike tells us his favourite.

We have a lovely article from a supporter who is chuffed that FC United is carrying on the red mancunian tradition of introducing the young to football and all its cultural flavours. He believes we all have a part to play in getting youngster involved.

Board member Jules Spencer tells us how the club is seeking to become more ’transparent’ and another member and co-owner states his idea for decoration of our potential new clubhouse.

There is our first ever junior member in Meet the Owners and a page especially for the FCUth.

Tom Stott looks at the close links between the visitors and their once-proud mining community and Steve Wood and Craig Phillips again give us an informative introduction to the away team, including a mention for above alternative rock band.

All for £2. We’re not joking. Profits to the club, of course...
