FC United aiming for cloud nine against Matlock

FC United will be looking to make it three wins out of three this Saturday and get nine points on the board when they welcome Matlock to Gigg Lane this Saturday.

The Reds are in confident mood after starting their eigth season with wins over Grantham, 4-2, and Whitby Town, 3-2. Despite the 100% start, manager Karl Marginson expects better from his players. Margy said: "Make no mistake, two wins out of two is a great start to a season but we were still disappointed with some aspects of our victory in midweek.

"I think we should’ve had the game won a lot more easily on Tuesday night but, in the end, we could have ended up dropping points because of our poor decision making. The players are very privileged to play for this club and they need to appreciate that if they switch off for just one minute the opposition will make us pay for it.

"Matlock will test us severely. They may have lost their opening game quite badly but they bounced back with a win on Tuesday at Frickley, which we know is no easy place to go and get a result.

"They have strengthened their squad, their manager is rated highly and are the kind of side we need to do well against."

FC United versus Matlock Town is this Saturday at Gigg Lane with a traditional three o’clock kick-off and it’s pay on the gate as usual. Get yourself to that football ground.
