Pound for the Ground winner donates £100 to the DF

Although it was a dismal day on the pitch last Saturday against Rushall, there was one ray of optimism at half time when the Pound for the Ground draw was made. The winner, Alan Murray from Bingley, an FC regular home and away, opened the envelope and gave £100 back to board member Des Lynch and said in a broad Yarkshire accent: "Stick that int’ DF barrels lad". Great gesture from Alan, who is also a regular in the Main Stand Inn every game, so no doubt a faire share of the rest of the winnings will find its way over the bar in due course. Just for the record, the winning number was 0561. With 725 tickets sold that means another £525 into the DF.

With Alan’s £100 and another load of euros changed by Tim for £55, the barrels had a good start to the day. £34 was collected at the recent AGM, plus a box of copper donated from an Oxford supporter which meant the final total was £322. In addition we will be banking £35 collected by the buckateers after the Fylde away game. Already we have collected over £3,000 in the barrels and buckets during these difficult times, which is a tremendous effort by our members and supporters - small change indeed.

If anyone can help, we have collected 282 Swedish Kroner and 95 Swiss Francs, all in loose change, ready for exchanging into English pounds or Euros, so if anyone is planning a trip to any of those two countries then please get in touch with board members Mike Sherard or Des Lynch. That’s all for now but please keep feeding the barrels with change and foreign stuff and thanks for all your support.
