Strength in Numbers

We have all felt the frustration of the past few weeks as game after game both home and away has been either postponed or abandoned. Going to B&Q or watching football on TV isn’t a substitute for watching live football and enjoying the atmosphere at a game with your mates.

Our club as a whole is on a secure footing, season tickets are at record levels and membership numbers aren’t far behind, however that doesn’t mean that we aren’t feeling the effects of the postponements and a fall in numbers through the gate this season, which seems to have affected clubs across the board and in particular at our level.

It’s important that we don’t get out of the habit of attending games as this drives so much of the income that the club needs to survive and flourish in the long term. The numbers at games not only affects gate receipts, but also programme sales, fair share draw tickets, barrel donations, takings in the bars, as well as Megacabin sales.

As co-owners and supporters we ALL have the responsibility to contribute and and take whatever action is needed to make sure that we maintain our strength in numbers. And we’d like to start with a demonstration of that drive and will to succeed at this Saturday’s home game against Stafford Rangers.
Many of us will be itching to get to a home game to get behind the team simply due to lack of football played recently, however we are also asking that ALL supporters and co-owners spread the word for Saturday’s game to get as many of us as possible through the gate - whether you are a season ticket holder, a regular pay on the gate supporter or an occasional supporter, who gets there when they can.

Also, importantly this weekend is a good time to bring a friend or two as fellow Reds have no United game on Saturday due the Liverpool game being moved to Sunday for TV. We are therefore requesting that EVERYONE asks at least one mate to come along on Saturday to get another taste of FC, or even try us for the first time.

FC manager Karl Marginson said: "It’s been a tough period recently seeing other teams playing while we’ve been rained off, but the support we had at Nantwich on Saturday was absolutely fantastic. Our fans swelled the gate to over 1,000 and it really made a difference. We also need everyone behind us this Saturday at Gigg Lane, so let’s have that 12th man factor coming to the fore. It really does make a difference and can help power us to three points against Stafford Rangers and get us further up the league table."

So, there you have it. Let’s all play our part this week and don’t leave it up to others to do it for us.

See you at that ground on Saturday!
