Margy keen to get back to winning ways against Chorley

FC United will be looking to keep our promotion push on track by getting back to winning ways this Saturday when we take on Chorley at Gigg Lane.

The Reds are unbeaten in the last 10 Evo-Stik Premier Division fixtures but after eight consecutive wins, Karl Marginson’s side will be slightly disappointed with two draws in the last week despite them both coming in difficult matches.

Having already beaten the Magpies once this season there will be a determination to make it two out of two and a joyous return to winning ways and a continuation of the push for promotion to the Blue Square North.

Margy said: "Wednesday night’s result was a hard-fought draw on an extremely bobbly pitch. I thought Matlock played very well and looked more like a play-off chasing team than one in mid-table. They worked hard and stopped us doing what we do best.

"We were obviously disappointed not to get the three points, especially after being a goal to the good, but it could be an important result for us in the end.

"Sunday’s match was just as hard fought. It was a big game and there was a huge build up to it and that may have affected the players. I told them that every game needs to be as big as the North Ferriby one, because from now to the end of the season we have to treat all matches as cup finals, if we want to get promoted.

"The crowd was fantastic both in numbers and volume on Sunday at Stalybridge. A number of players commented on how they felt lifted. It is a very important factor for FC United - lots of teams raise their games and seem to have an extra man when they play us because their players are more up for it.

"That makes it difficult for our lads, but we have one advantage that most other teams don’t possess and that is you lot. Our fans."
