FC United March board meeting report

The latest FC United of Manchester Board Meeting took place on Monday 25 March 2013. Board member PETE BURKE reports.

This was the first meeting since the latest judicial review and therefore a lengthy discussion ensued about funding, business plans, cash flows, leases and planning etc. There are still further sensitive negotiations with various bodies on-going, but it is all now coming together. The board appreciate that our members want to have more project updates, but as promised we will update everyone as and when we are able to do so.

Filling the three vacant board positions was also discussed and we were all pleased to see seven nominations (Plus RON – Reopen Nominations) for the elections on Sunday 28 April. This should lead to some lively debate in the coming weeks and at the general meeting and the interest in standing for the board certainly bodes well for the club’s future.

Finances are still a concern but plans are in place to manage our costs and raise income. We heard that we still had five home games left this season, including three Saturday games now that the season has been extended by a week. So, let’s all get behind the players and get us into those play-offs again.

By now, all members should have received a copy of the co-owner’s magazine which has been posted to each household with letters attached for each member. If your contact details are incorrect please inform the FC Office as soon as possible as this helps us to maintain good communications.

Finally, the Development Fund was discussed and we will be promoting many fundraising initiatives in the next few months to help us raise the money needed to reach our goal of playing at our new ground in Moston.

The next Board Meeting is on Monday 22 April 2013.
