Post-match entertainment after FC vs Wimbledon match July 13th

AFC Wimbledon will be hosting a night of free entertainment after the club’s first pre-season home match against FC United of Manchester on Saturday, 13 July with an evening of comedy and music provided by the London branch of the FC United of Manchester Supporters Club.

The Man of the Match presentation will start proceedings at 5.30pm and one of the highlights will be the appearance of hard-hitting comedian and songwriter Attila the Stockbroker. Also featuring on the bill will be Punk Football, a documentary charting the formation of FC United, a production that creator Dan Colbourne wants to also gauge the reaction of Wimbledon fans about.

Local band The Greenbacks and DJs will also feature on the bill, which all supporters are welcome to stay on for and enjoy after the match.

The previous encounter between AFC Wimbledon and FC United proved to be a memorable occasion in July 2009 when a crowd of 1,722 turned out to watch the Supporters Direct Cup and a 2-0 win for the Dons with goals from Peter Rapson and Ben Judge (the picture above shows Luke Moore in action during that game).

As part of arrangements for next month’s match between the two fans-owned clubs, FC United have invited AFC Wimbledon to be their first opponents at their proposed new ground in Moston, Manchester, a venue the club hopes to be playing at before the start of 2014/15.

Approximate timings for the entertainment on 13 July are as follows:

5.30 pm – Man of the Match presentation
6.00 pm - Music
6.30 pm – Attila the Stockbroker
7.15 pm – Film introduction, plus film and questions to director
