FC United aim to close the gap at Stafford

FC United will be looking to close the gap at the top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division on Saturday when we return to league action with an away trip to Stafford Rangers.

With our midweek match against Whitby Town postponed due to The Seasiders’s FA Cup replay, other midweek results went in FC United’s favour, leaving us occupying fifth place on 16 points, just four points behind league leaders Skelmersdale and a game in hand on all the teams above us.

United have no fresh injury concerns but midfielder Christopher Worsley will begin his three match suspension after the club’s appeal over his sending off against Witton Albion was rejected.

The Reds have a decent record against our hosts with two wins, one draw and one defeat over the last two seasons. Rangers, who were relegated from the Conference North in 2011, are currently bottom of the table, so the Reds will be hoping to maintain their record of having never been beaten at Marston Road, where we also played Eccleshall during our inaugural season.

Stafford Rangers versus FC United of Manchester is this Saturday at the traditional and supporter friendly time of three o’clock. It’s pay on the gate. Get yourself to that football ground.
