FC United aiming for quarter-finals with victory at Ossett Town

FC United aiming for quarter-finals with victory at Ossett TownFC United are hoping to make it through to the quarter-finals of the Doodson Sport Cup for the first time by overcoming Evo-Stik Division One North outfit Ossett Town on Tuesday night.

Having beaten Ramsbottom United 2-1 and Ashton United 2-0 in the previous rounds, the Reds will be happy to come away with a similar scoreline when we travel to West Yorkshire tonight to take on Town, who are placed eighth in the division below.

Our hosts’ route to the third round of the league cup competition has seen them win 3-2 at Sheffield FC and come from a goal behind to win 3-1 away at supporter-owned Darlington 1883.

The match is only our second game of 2014 due to the postponement of league fixtures against Trafford and Chorley and manager Karl Marginson is keen for his players to continue the rich vein of form that has seen them lose just one of our last 13 games.

Margy said: “We’ve been getting the results our hard work has deserved over the last couple of months and we want to take that into the New Year. We want to go all the way in the Doodson Cup, it would be great to give the supporters a final and to pick up some silverware.???

Ossett Town versus FC United of Manchester is this Tuesday at Ossett’s Ingfield ground with kick-off at 7.45pm. Get yourself to that football ground.
