Byrne back after bug break as FC United travel to Chorley

Byrne back after bug break as FC United travel to ChorleyFC United will have playmaker Callum Byrne back available as we head to Evo-Stik Premier Division leaders Chorley on Tuesday night, looking to extend our unbeaten league run to six matches.

Byrne missed Saturday’s 4-1 win over Droylsden due to a flu bug but manager Karl Marginson expects the central midfielder to be back tonight as the Reds aim to close the gap on the Magpies to nine points with a game in hand.

Whilst FC United have been enjoying a good run of form recently, Chorley have not won in their last three league matches. Margy says that, despite the standings in the table, his fifth placed side will go into the match full of confidence.

He said: “We’ve been buoyed by our good mini-run of late and we’re looking forward to going toe-toe with the league leaders. The lads believe in each other and they know they can get results against anyone in this league. What they have to do is to convert that belief into results on the pitch for the rest of the season.???

Other than the long-term injury to goalkeeper James Spencer, the only absentee FC United expect to have tonight is Matthew Walwyn, who had to be substituted during Saturday’s victory with a suspected hamstring strain.

Chorley versus FC United of Manchester is tonight at Victory Park with kick-off at 7.45pm and it’s pay on the gate. Get yourself to that football ground and cheer on the lads as they look to cement their place in the play-offs and who knows, maybe kick-start a late charge towards the title?
