Feel-good factor sees Margy savouring match-up with Marine

FC United travel to the Sefton coast this Saturday for the always eagerly awaited clash with Marine. The game has been given extra importance this season as it takes place on Non-League Day and has also been selected as one of the special 2014 ‘Season of Action’ fixtures by football’s anti-discrimination charity, Kick It Out.

After seeing his side collect six points in the last two games, with wins over Ramsbottom United and Blyth Spartans, FC United manager Karl Marginson has a renewed spring in his step as his squad prepare to make the trip to Merseyside. “The midweek win over Blyth was a great performance by the lads and I thought we controlled the game throughout. It was great to see Joe Fox get his goal and the only minor disappointment was that we didn’t score more, as we certainly had the chances in both halves.

“The result continues our good start to the season. It was a great win and a good performance – not many teams will go all the way up there for an evening game and come back with three points. As I said, we probably could and should have scored more but we can work on that and the lads are aware of it and the high standards we have set ourselves. I’m delighted for everybody around the club. Wins breed confidence and give you a real feel good factor and we’ll be looking to take that into Saturday’s game on Merseyside.

“Marine is always a difficult place to go and I know that the Manc/Scouse factor adds a bit of extra spice to the game. It’s certainly a match that our fans always relish and there should be a cracking atmosphere inside the ground which always makes for an exciting occasion. We’ll be up for the game as I’m sure Marine will be so let’s hope the supporters are in for a treat with an FC win at the end of the 90 minutes.???

Marine v FC United of Manchester takes place on Saturday 6 September 2014 with a 3pm kick off. Venue is the Arriva Stadium and admission to the ground is pay on the gate with £10 for adults and £5 concessions, with children aged 11 and under free as long as a paying adult accompanies them.

Get yourself to that football ground.
