Reds do battle with the Spartans

Reds do battle with the SpartansFC United look to follow up Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Rushall Olympic and make it two wins on the bounce when the do battle with Blyth Spartans at Bower Fold on Tuesday evening.

Matthew Kay’s first goal for the club was enough to give United their first win in four games on Saturday and Margy’s men will no doubt be looking to follow that up and once more build some momentum as they meet a Blyth Spartans team that they have already beaten earlier this season.

A Joe Fox goal in early September was enough to keep Uniteds 100% record against the Spartans to date with five wins in five games over the past three seasons.

The visitors will come into the game with a positive mindset having secured their place in the first round proper of the FA Cup at weekend, where they will host Altrincham in November.

The Spartans league form hasn’t been the best this season though, having only picked up three wins in thirteen games as they currently sit 21st in the league with just 14 points. But the fact they come into the game on the back of a big FA Cup win and they will be looking for their first victory against the reds makes them a dangerous opponent.

United know that a win could potentially move them up to 6th place in the league as they look to put a good run of results together before the turn of the year and close the gap on the league leaders.

So get yourself down to that football ground on Tuesday evening.
