FC's Chuks Akuneto selected as FA Club Mentor

FC’s Chuks Akuneto selected as FA Club MentorFC United’s head of youth coaching, Chuks Akuneto, has been selected by the Football Association to be an FA Club Mentor and to support Charter Standard Clubs by providing quality targeted support that challenges coaches within these grassroots clubs to excel in their work and enhance coaching standards across the country.

The FA Club Mentor scheme is a four-year project being rolled out by football’s governing body and links in to the principles of The FA Future Game document, as well as linking with The FA Respect programme.

Chuks (pictured above) is currently working towards his UEFA A Licence and has been part of the coaching team at the club for a number of years, holding positions including first team coach and development squad head coach and achieving success with teams under his guidance by winning the Lancashire Galaxy League and Cup double, North West Youth Alliance League and Manchester FA U18 County Cup.

Chuks has also been integral in the development of youth players in reaching the FC United first team including Scott Cheetham, Jay Walcott and Matthew Tierney.

Chuks said: “In order to improve the quality of players at all levels there is a need to assist the coaches so that everything they do is towards the development of the players under their guidance. This is an exciting role for me and there will also be many benefits I can take from the role and implement back in to FC United.???

With Chuks’ vast playing and coaching experiences he will no doubt help support the delivery of the FA’s objective of improving the standard of coaching for players at all levels, and once again it shows the level of expertise at FC United of Manchester.
