No injury concerns as FC United travel to Torquay for Trophy showdown

FC United are fully fit, barring long term injuries, and ’buzzing’ on their way to Torquay after the players declined the opportunity to skip training on Thursday night.

The team coach left Manchester at 10.30am on Friday, just 13 hours after finishing a training session that manager Karl Marginson offered to cancel to allow the players to spend more time with their families.

Darren Lyons, Head of Player Development, explained: "Karl knows that the players are going to be away from home for the weekend and it’s a big commitment. So he gave them the opportunity to have last night off.

"But everyone one of them said no, they’d like to keep things as they are and prepare as fully as possible. It’s testament to the players’ attitude."

Speaking from the club coach en route to Devon whilst Margy had a well earned sleep, Lyons said: "Everyone’s buzzing and if any of them were injured, I’d doubt they’d tell us. We have about 98% of the squad here now, Matthew Wolfenden and Jerome Wright couldn’t get the time off work, so they are flying down tomorrow morning with Andy Walsh."

FC United take on Torquay United tomorrow at three o’clock at Plainmoor for a place in the FA Trophy semi-finals. If you can’t join the 1,000 Reds making their way to the English Riviera be sure to tune in to FCUM Radio for live coverage.
