Bumper collection for Development Fund at the Kings Lynn game

Bumper collection for Development Fund at the Kings Lynn gameOur home game against Kings Lynn Town on 7 March 2015 saw FC United record the highest home league attendance of the season and this led to another bumper fundraising collection for the FC United Development Fund.

Our Pound for the Ground sellers sold a magnificent 946 tickets and after deducting £200 for the winner, £746 goes into the DF. The winning ticket was number 851 and the winner received their £200 winnings on the pitch before the teams reappeared for the second half and then very generously gave £20 back to the DF barrel collection. We also had a second prize of a hamper of fudge donated by The Fudge Factory and this was won by ticket 882 and has not yet been claimed.

Saturday’s barrel collection was a veritable cornucopia of gifts and donations. We had £20 from the PFTG winner, £31 collected at Wednesday’s members’ meeting, £55 from Marlene’s Christmas card sales and all the usual notes, bags and loose change. The final total was £302 for the DF. In addition we also received an absolute heap of foreign stuff (old and current), including 30 euros, £20 worth Swiss francs, £15 worth of UAE Dirhams and a variety of other currencies. On top of all this, John Hyde brought in a tub of old pre-decimal coins which are being checked and may be worth around £200.

This means that the DF gained a grand total of £1,048 from the Kings Lynn Town game. All in all, an intriguing but very pleasing collection of donations. Many thanks to all who contributed, now let’s do it all again tomorrow night at the Ilkeston game, for which we already have £64 for the collection from swapping some foreign stuff.

So, the running total for the Development Fund at home games so far this season now stands at £12,019.
