Support FC United's women's team in the Challenge Cup Final this Sunday

FC United’s women’s team go for cup glory this coming Sunday when they play Little Lever Sports Club in the final of the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League Challenge Cup. The game is being played at Moor Lane, Safford City’s ground and kicks off at 2pm and FC United supporters are urged to get to the ground to cheer on the team.

Lee Sutton’s side, who won the league title last month, have never played their opponents before. Little Lever Sports Club are a new team formed for the 2014-15 season and play in the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League Division 2 which they recently won, so they are champions just like FC. As Little Lever are in the division below FC United, the Reds are expected to start the game as favourites on paper, however their opponents are an unknown quantity and as they have already defeated FC’s close rivals Beechfield in the semi-final, they will provide a stiff test for Sutton’s team.

The last time FC United’s women’s team played in a cup final at Moor Lane there was a tremendous atmosphere and a similar occasion is expected this Sunday with many FC United fans expected to make the trip to Salford.

FCUM Radio will be broadcasting live from the match and we have arranged to take a grassroots under-10s girls’ team, Winton Wanderers, as FC’s mascots for the game.

Get yourself to that football ground to cheer on FC’s women’s team to cup glory.
