On Saturday 15th October, kick-off 3pm, FC United travel to AFC Telford United in the Vanarama National League North. This match is pay on the gate.

Following our 4-3 league win against Alfreton Town last Saturday, we’ll be looking to extend our unbeaten league run to 4 matches by picking up points away against AFC Telford this Saturday.

Telford are currently 4th from bottom in the league on 12 points, but it’s their off-the-field situation that is causing more of a concern for the Shropshire club.

It was reported this week that AFC Telford United, which was formed by fans in 2004, following the liquidation of the old Telford United need to raise £50,000 in extra income over the next two months.

Although they insist they are not on the verge of a reported financial disaster – they do need to raise money to improve a cash flow problem. They also want to change structure from being run by a Supporters’ Trust. A club statement said "We have urged the Trust Board to enable changes to the ownership model of the club which would allow external investment,"

Telford United Supporters Trust Chairman, Steve Bowyer, has also proposed that the Trust majority shareholding in the football club ceases and that shares be issued as a consequence to parties able to dedicate the required funds to the running of the football club.

To help ease the current financial situation, they are urging their supporters to donate money, volunteer and of course attend Saturday’s match against FC United.

Last season FC United lost all of the three matches against Telford, with two defeats at Broadhurst Park (in the League and FA Trophy) followed by a 5-1 loss away. This season the two sides drew 0-0 at Broadhurst Park in August.
