Chadderton FC, who are currently 12th in the North West Counties Division One (Step 6) are FC’s joint closest footballing neighbours, with Broadhurst Park just 3.1 miles away from Chadderton’s Ark Fleetech Stadium. (in case you’re wondering city is also 3.1 miles away).
In 2005/06 FC United and Chadderton played their only 2 competitive matches against each other, with FC winning both.
The 4-0 home win on 12th April 2006 saw FC United clinch promotion to the North West Counties Division One (now called the North West Counties Premier). The away game, only 7 days later, saw the now ’Champions’ take to the field. The match was played at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park in front of 2,352 celebratory supporters who witnessed a 3-2 win and a rare goal scored by FC’s Darren Lyons.
