How to vote

The Board hopes that as many members as possible will vote on the resolutions and Members’ Votes, and there follows some detail on how you can cast your votes, including by post, if you are unable to attend the Meeting.

1. Appointment of a Proxy

The Constitution of the Club allows Members to appoint a proxy to attend and vote at General Meetings, on behalf of the Member. If you are unable to attend the General Meeting and you wish to be represented at the Meeting, or to have your vote counted on the resolutions being proposed at the Meeting, you may complete and return the enclosed Proxy Forms to the Club’s registered office. You should note the following:

i. Alternately you may appoint the Chair of the Meeting to be your proxy. If you appoint the Chair of the Meeting you should indicate on the Proxy Forms how you would like the Chair to vote, on your behalf, on the proposed motions. The Chair will then cast your vote as you have directed. If you appoint the Chair as your proxy, there will be no voting form reserved for you to collect on the day of the Meeting.

ii. You may appoint someone other than the Chair of the Meeting to be your proxy. A proxy need not be a Member of the Club. No person other than the Chair of the Meeting can act as proxy for more than three Members. If you appoint someone other than the Chair of the Meeting to be your proxy, a voting form will be reserved for your proxy to collect on the evening of the Meeting. Your proxy will then be able to vote on the resolutions and members’ votes as you may have directed them.

iii. The Constitution provides that resolutions shall be decided upon a show of hands, unless a poll (which would mean that every vote is counted) is demanded or directed. Because of the size and geographical spread of our Membership, the Chair of the Meeting will direct that a poll be taken on all resolutions, to ensure that all votes, both at the Meeting and through the Chair (as proxy), are counted.

iv. If you decide to appoint a proxy, your completed Proxy Forms must be returned to the Club’s registered office, so that it arrives no later than noon on Monday 9th April (being three clear days before the Meeting). The address of the Club’s registered office is:

Broadhurst Park
310 Lightbowne Road
Moston
Manchester
M40 0FJ

Please note that, if you intend to attend the Meeting, a Voting Form will be given to you at the Meeting, which is different to the enclosed Proxy Form (which you do not have to bring with you to the Meeting).

2. Ballot Form

If you are unable to attend the General Meeting and do not wish to appoint a proxy but you wish your vote to be counted on the motions being proposed at the Meeting, you should complete and return the enclosed ballot forms to the Club’s registered office (address above).

If you decide to return your ballot forms by post, your completed ballot form must be returned to the Club’s registered office, so that it arrives no later than noon Monday 9th April 2018 (being three clear days before the Meeting).

Ballot boxes will be on the membership stall at the ground on Saturday 24th March for the home game against Bradford Park Avenue, and also on Monday 2nd April for the home game against York City unless either game is postponed.

If you vote by post, there will be no ballot form reserved for you to collect on the evening of the Meeting.

Please note that, if you intend to attend the General Meeting, a voting form will be given to you at the meeting, which is different to the enclosed ballot form (which you do not have to bring with you to the meeting).

The Board looks forward to seeing as many Members as possible on Thursday 12th April 2018.
