NEW PLAYER: Paddy Wharton

Paddy Wharton (19) is a talented young Goalkeeper who joins FC United from Tranmere Rovers.

Wharton came from the youth ranks at Prenton Park and helped Tranmere’s youth team to an FA Youth Cup third round tie against Everton a couple of years ago.

He signed his first professional contract while still a scholar and had his first full campaign as a pro last season (2018/19).

Wharton made one appearance for Tranmere last season in the EFL Trophy away at Shrewsbury Town back in October 2018, but he has enjoyed senior experience in non-league with Colwyn Bay, Marine and Stalybridge Celtic.

At the start of last season he joined NPL Div 1 West side Colwyn Bay playing seven games before returning to Prenton Park.

A couple of weeks after his 1st Team debut at Tranmere he joined Northern Premier League Premier Division side Stalybridge Celtic on loan where he made seven appearances before he returned to Rovers in November. He then joined Northern Premier League side Marine on loan making ten appearances.

In January 2019, he returned to Stalybridge Celtic for his second loan spell at Bower Fold, where he remained for the rest of the 2018/19 season.

Wharton is currently away on holiday so has not been available for a FC photo or short interview.
