FC United Kick-off in Gorton

FC United, working in partnership with Manchester Leisure, kicked-off some new football sessions for young people earlier this week in Ryder Brow, where the club’s Reserve team play. The sessions are being supported by the Manchester Crime and Disorder Partnership, and see the club’s community coaches offering daily football throughout the holidays aimed at 8-16 year olds. The sessions are being held on the playing field at Old Hall Drive Primary School, which is just a stones throw from Abbey Hey FC, where the Reserves are based.

The sessions are open to all young people in the Gorton area, and youngsters can just turn-up and play. The numbers attending the first two sessions has been very positive, with many making their way to Abbey Stadium afterwards to watch the Reserves beat Cheadle Town 2-0 last night.

It is hoped that the sessions, which take place between 5.00pm and 7.00pm (except Friday and Monday), will be continue to grow over the school holidays and lead to the club developing other initiatives with its partners throughout the city.
